Israeli army round up 19 militants in West Bank

The Israeli army rounded up 19 militants in the West Bank during overnight arrest raids, officials said on Friday, pushing forward with a crackdown in the wake of a suicide bombing at an Israeli mall earlier this week.

The army said 10 of the militants belonged to Islamic Jihad, the group that carried out Monday’s bombing. The militants were from villages near Tulkarem, the same area from which Monday’s bomber originated. Officials gave no further details.

Israel has promised a harsh response to the attack, which killed five people in the coastal city of Netanya.It has killed three wanted militants in airstrikes in the Gaza Strip this week. The army also has arrested 62 militants, including 21 Islamic Jihad members, since the bombing, reports the AP. I.L.
