Boeing, engineers union reach tentative contract deal

Boeing Co. and the union for its engineering and technical employees said they had reached a tentative agreement on a new three-year labor contract for Puget Sound-area employees.

The Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace said in a joint statement Tuesday with Boeing that it would recommend its members accept the offer. Members have until 5 p.m. PST on Dec. 1 to cast their votes.

The union represents nearly 18,000 engineers and technical workers in the Puget Sound region. Separate talks covering 800 SPEEA members in Wichita, Kansas., began Nov. 8 to renew a contact that expires Dec. 5.

The company and the union were expected to release details of the contract offer later Tuesday, AP reported. V.A.
