The jet carrying the royal couple touched down at San Francisco International Airport shortly before 9.00pm local time (0500 GMT). They were quickly whisked away by car.
The prince and his wife arrived in San Francisco after a tour of hurricane-ravaged New Orleans on the Gulf of Mexico coast, where they expressed shock at the severe damage done to the capital of jazz by Hurricane Katrina, informs Independent Online.
