German man in Philippines goes on shooting over land dispute, kills 2

Two local officials killed and two civilians wounded as a German man went on a shooting rampage in a northern Philippine town, in a land dispute, police said Tuesday.

Police said Anthony Kampemann, 51, who has been living with his Filipina wife in Jones town in Isabela province, 240 kilometers (150 miles) northeast of Manila, drew a .45 caliber pistol inside town hall on Sunday after being summoned by officials to settle a dispute with his four neighbors.

He fatally shot two officials, then proceeded to a neighbor's house where he shot and wounded two men before the wife of one of them knocked him unconscious with a bottle, Chief Superintendent Jefferson Soriano said.

Kampemann was arrested on murder charges, he said.
