British police seek Pole believed to have body of fellow Pole in car trunk

British police said Saturday they are seeking a Polish man who they believe drove away from a house with the body of a fellow Pole in the car trunk.

Warwickshire Police said they were looking for Mariusz Szpyt, 22, who they believe left a house in Rugby, central England on Wednesday morning.

The car Szpyt was driving likely contained the body of his house mate Ryszard Sawczyk, 32, from Szczecin in northern Poland, said Detective Superintendent Ken Lawrence. Officers believe Szpyt was driving a blue or black Volkswagen Golf with the Polish registration plate ZS 60262, he added.

Police launched a murder inquiry after being called to the house in Rugby on Thursday and finding evidence of a violent incident, although they did not recover a body.

"We are very anxious to locate Mariusz and that vehicle and the body of the victim," Lawrence said. "We are appealing directly to Mariusz. He knows what happened, he knows why it happened, he knows what the circumstances were and can tell us.", AP reported. V.A.
