Cuadros Fernandez’s parents claim daughter is not guilty

Kyle Lazarchik died on Saturday after being injured on Thursday. Medical examiners ruled the death a homicide due to blunt force trauma. Ada Betty Cuadros Fernandez, a native of Peru, initially was charged with felony injury to a child. But McKinney police Capt. Randy Roland said Monday that the charge against her is expected to be upgraded to capital murder.

Roland said police arrested Cuadros Fernandez because her story was not consistent with medical reports.

Cuadros Fernandez told police she had just fed Kyle and his twin brother Ryan lunch and took Kyle into the playroom, the AP reports.

She told police she was moving quickly and hit the right side of Kyle's head against a doorframe.

Doctors said his injuries were consistent with a major car accident or a fall from a six-floor building, according to her arrest warrant affidavit.

In Peru, Cuadros Fernandez's parents on Tuesday protested their daughter's innocence on national radio.
