Police take DNA samples from suspected family of Bali bombers

Indonesian police have taken DNA samples from several suspected family members of the suicide bombers in an effort to identify the three attackers in last weekend's Bali blasts, police said Thursday.

Police spokesman Brig. Gen. Sunarko Danu Artanto confirmed a report in the Java Pos newspaper that officers had taken blood samples from several people in east Java province believed to be related to the three bombers.

"I cannot mention their names, but the police have done that," Sunarko told reporters, giving no more details.

Confirming the identities of the bombers would be a major break in the investigation into Saturday's attacks on three crowded restaurants that killed 22 people, including the three bombers, reports the AP.
