IAEA director general comes to Moscow to discuss cooperation

MOSCOW, Oct.4. International Atomic Energy Agency Director General Mohammed ElBaradei has arrived in Moscow to discuss cooperation.

He will attend a conference on the reduction of the global threat of weapons of mass destruction, sources in the Nuclear Threat Reduction Initiative Foundation.

Russian and U.S. politicians, including Senator Sam Nunn, will attend the conference.

Russia and the United States have progressed a lot in the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, Nunn said. He hopes that the bilateral cooperation will develop, in particularly, in biological and chemical technologies.

ElBaradei headed the IAEA in 1997. His new term of office will expire on November 30, 2009, Itar-Tass reported.
