UK detains five people as security threats for deportation

British immigration authorities have detained five men who face deportation as threats to national security, according to the Home Office.

The office declined to identify the men or to say where they were arrested. All are being held in secure facilities.

On Sept. 15, immigration authorities served deportation orders on seven men, who are also being detained.

Some of those detained last month reportedly had been acquitted of charges of plotting a terrorist attack involving ricin, cyanide, botulinum or explosives.

The move to deport alleged security threats is part of the government's response to the terrorist attacks on July 7, when four suspected suicide bombers killed 52 bus and Underground passengers in London, the AP reports.
