The Seoul city government is studying the possibility of building a Disneyland theme park near the South Korean capital and is in talks with Walt Disney Co., an official said Wednesday.
"We are reviewing the feasibility" of building a theme park at Seoul Grand Park in Gwacheon, a city adjacent to Seoul, said the official, who works in Seoul's foreign investment division. He spoke on condition of anonymity, saying that talks with Disney were still at an early stage and nothing has been decided. Seoul Grand Park is the site of a natural park with animals and a botanical garden, and an amusement park called Seoulland is nearby. Disney currently has two theme parks in Asia, one near Tokyo and a recently opened facility on an island near Hong Kong, reports the AP.
