Israeli defense official hopes Egypt strengthens its border with Palestina

A senior Israeli defense official said Friday that the Palestinian Authority's credibility is on the line over its failure so far to control movement to and fro across its border with Egypt, from which Israeli troops withdrew on Monday.

Amos Gilad, head of the Defense Ministry's diplomatic and security department said he believed that the Egyptians would tighten control on their side of the border but the Palestinian leadership "look like they're running a system which has neither law nor order, neither organization nor authority," the AP reports.
