Rumsfeld insisted on US presence in Afghanistan

U.S. Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld insisted Wednesday that the United States would maintain a forceful presence in Afghanistan even after NATO allies expand their peacekeeping operation across the country next year.

"U.S. forces will of course continue to play a strong role," he told a news conference after a meeting of NATO defense ministersб the AP reports.
