Swiss grounded Turkish airliner

Swiss civil aviation officials Wednesday said they refused to let a Turkish charter plane take off from Zurich airport.

The takeoff ban for the Onur Air plane will remain in effect until technical shortcomings are corrected, Federal Office for Civil Aviation said in a statement.

The office said technicians found problems with the the Airbus A-300's hydraulic system during a routine check.

Swiss authorities have regularly examined the airline's planes since May, when the company was subject to an 11-day landing ban in Switzerland. Similar restrictions were imposed at the time at airports in the Netherlands, Germany and France, reports the AP.
