Israel approves a plan for Egypt on Gaza border

Israel's Cabinet approved on Sunday a plan for Egypt to deploy 750 troops on the border between the Gaza Strip and Egypt to prevent the smuggling of weapons into the Palestinian territory, the government said. The Egyptian deployment was considered essential to Israel's plan to evacuate a security strip, known as the Philadelphi Road, along the border between Gaza and Egypt as part of Israel's unilateral pullout from the Gaza Strip, AP reports.
