Egypt will help Israel with Gaza Strip

Israel's Cabinet and parliament are expected to approve next week an agreement with Egypt outlining the deployment of 750 Egyptian troops along a volatile stretch of the Gaza-Egypt border, Israeli media reported Friday.

The agreement will be brought before the Cabinet on Sunday and the parliament on Wednesday, Israel Radio reported. Israel is expected soon after the approval to ask Egypt to deploy its troops, the radio said.

The agreement is a key component of Israel's withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, which is expected to be completed by mid-September. Israel expects the Egyptian troops to prevent weapons smuggling from Egypt into the Gaza Strip, according to the AP.
