Strike by airport workers may disrupt Orthodox Easter week flights

A union of civil aviation employees Friday threatened to stage a 48-hour strike during Orthodox Easter week and cause major flight disruptions during one of the busiest times of the year.

The union, demanding back payments from last year, said they plan to stage the strike on April 26 and 27. Easter Sunday is on May 1.

On Thursday, about 100 domestic flights were canceled in Greece after a one-day strike by civil aviation employees forced most regional airports to close. International flights were not affected by the strike, but several charter flights were canceled.
