Impeachment Instead of Resignation

Some Kyrgyz parliamentarians have suggested that Askar Akayev's resignation not be accepted and impeachment be announced, reports RIA Novosti. Earlier &to=http://newsfromrussia.com/world/2005/04/05/59004.html' target=_blank>Kyrgyz parliament failed to reach quorum required to validate Akayev's resignation.

Several opposition MPs assert that Akayev's resignation is out of the question after his escape from the country. In the case of formal resignation the first Kyrgyz president would enjoy special privileges and rights provided by the Kyrgyz constitution. This is the thing which the most intransigent among Akayev's opponents can't agree with.
