Opposition plans new demonstrations in Kiev

Supporters of opposition candidate Viktor Yushchenko, who declared himself President-elect yesterday, plan to begin a demonstration near the office of the presidential administration in Kiev.

Yesterday Yushchenko promised his voters that his team would announce some initiatives intended to resolve the crisis that had emerged in the country after the second round of presidential elections today.

However, the opposition believes the elections were rigged. Thousands of Yushchenko's supporters have been demonstrating in Kiev and in the west of Ukraine since November 22, demanding the recognition of their candidate's victory. At the same time supporters of Yanukovich are demonstrating in eastern Ukraine.
