Beckham received yellow card and broken ribs

England skipper David Beckham suffered a hairline fracture to one of his ribs during England's 2-0 win over Wales at Old Trafford, X-rays revealed late on Saturday.

An FA spokeswoman confirmed that a second set of X-rays revealed the extent of the injury after an earlier set appeared to give him the all-clear.

But it was not immediately clear how long the injury would sideline him for.

The Real Madrid standout appeared to get hurt during a midair challenge with Welsh defender Ben Thatcher. &to=http:// english.pravda.ru/world/20/91/365/9895_beckham.html ' target=_blank>Beckhamslumped to the ground but got back on his feet stayed in the game.

Beckham later received a yellow card for crashing into Thatcher on another play. It was his second caution of the World Cup 2006 qualifying stage, warranting an automatic one-game ban.
