Disturbing findings are causing Merck & Co to pull Vioxx from the market

Human studies of the drug Vioxx as an arthritis relief medication is showing counter indicators. The new study shows an increase in heart attacks and strokes in patients taking Vioxx and the drug is being withdrawn. Patients who are taking Vioxx should consult with their doctors.

Clinical trial data have shown the drug increased the incidence of blood clots tied to strokes and heart attacks.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced that it will also be placing Celebrex made by the Pfizer Inc under heavier scrutiny as a precaution. There have been no counter indications in Celebrex and people taking the drug should not become alarmed, just only be informed that USFDA is starting to monitor all drugs used on the treatment of arthritis.
