Odessa Fountain May Sprinkle the Air With the City's Own Scent

Odessa may get the world's first perfumed fountain, according to the Odessa City Council. The sponsor and author of the idea is Christophe Lacarien, a French perfume manufacturer, now living in Odessa. His plan calls for the daily use of 250 milliliters of a new perfume to be called 'Odessa.' A group of 20 specialists is working toward a formula for the scent.

The devisers say they want to combine the aromas of acacia and the sea with the eternally spring mood of the city. Lacarien hopes the fountain will be housed in the Odessa Municipal Garden, but local authorities have not yet made a decision about placement.
