Georgia sends troops to Iraq

Georgian Defense Ministry dispatch its 160 troops to Iraq. Georgian forces will deploy to the Iraqi cities of Baghdad and Tikrit, the Defense Ministry reported. Georgian troops are to enhance security in some facilities, fight terrorists and take part in the peacekeeping mission. The Georgian Defense Ministry plans to dispatch an additional 55 troops to Iraq this May. And Georgia does not rule out the possibility that its quota of troops to be deployed to Iraq may increase.

Georgia sent 74 servicemen to Iraq in 2003.
