The delegation of the Russian Audit Chamber headed by its Chairman Sergey Stepashin will visit the USA on April 5 to 7, 2004. In the course of the forthcoming negotiations with Comptroller General of the United States David Walker the parties are planning to discuss the cooperation of supreme financial control agencies of the two states in the field of detecting financial sources of international terrorism and fighting against money laundering, the Russian Audit Chamber reports. In addition, the parties will consider their capabilities to intensify Russian-American relations in terms of trade and investments, cooperation in the IT sphere and nuclear weapons' destruction process.
Stepashin will also participate in a workshop of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI). This organization was founded on the initiative of the Russian Audit Chamber in 2003 in order to consolidate the efforts of more than 170 countries for detecting financial sources of international terrorism.
The Russian Audit Chamber Chairmen is also planning to meet with American legislators as well as business community representatives.
