US OKs Ukraine request for funds to dismantle more long-range arms

The United States, acting at the request of Ukraine, has agreed to pay for the dismantling of 94 X-22 missiles, 4 Tu-142 anti-submarine aircraft and 2 Tu-134 training bombers. The work is to be completed in 2005, Ukraine's Defense Ministry told a Rosbalt reporter.

Ukraine has already dismantled 11 Tu-160 strategic bombers, 27 Tu-95 bombers and 483 X-55 missiles, using USD 15 million granted by the US.
