Georgian President crosses Adzharia's border without hindrance

Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili, accompanied by government officials, crossed the administrative border with the Adzharian autonomy at Choloki at 11.40 Moscow time.

Several hundreds of Adzharian leader Aslan Abashidze's supporters met the President and his escort at the border, chanting "Aslan, Aslan," a RIA Novosti correspondent reports from Choloki.

Rallymen were holding the flag of the Revival Party led by President Abashidze, while a Georgian flag was not seen in the crowd.

Mr. Saakashvili is being accompanied by central State Security Minister Zurab Adeishvili, Prosecutor General Irakly Okruashvili, Interior Minister Georgy Baramidze and Koba Khabazi, leader of the Our Adzhara public-political organisation.

Our Adzhara is in confrontation with Adzharia's authorities. President Abashidze's supporters wanted a meeting with the Georgian president at the border. However, the presidential motorcade proceeded to Batumi for a meeting with Mr. Abashidze.
