Commonwealth countries may adopt special statement on Georgia

The CIS Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs may adopt a joint statement on Georgia, spokesman for Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Alexander Yakovenko stated.

"It is possible that a statement on the situation in Georgia may be adopted within the extraordinary meeting of the CIS Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs which is being held in Kiev today on Ukraine's initiative," Yakovenko said.

According to him, within the Council's meeting scheduled for today Russia's Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov will speak of his trip to Georgia. The Minister will leave for Kiev in the first half of the day on Tuesday.

Yakovenko recalled that the question of the situation around Georgia had already been discussed in the course of the talks between the Foreign Ministers of Russia and Azerbaijan held on the day before.
