Opposition allow temporary Georgian government to return to parliament

Supporters of the National Movement have left parliament and the government buildings which they had seized allowing Nino Burdjanidze and her temporary government to take control of the nation's affairs. This was announced to journalists by National Movement Leader Mikhail Saakashvili.

He said the executive branch of the Georgian government should remain in control for the time being. This includes ministers. However, Mr Saakashvili stressed that he was insisting on the removal of Interior Minister Koba Narchemashvili as, in his opinion, he was largely responsible for the undemocratic elections that were held on November 2. Mr Narchemashvili, however, told journalists that he will try to ensure that the ministry functions normally despite the difficult conditions.
