Kurdish Worker's Party calls Turkey 'political corpse'

Turkey sent forces to Iraq not by their own whim, but too contradict almost all the nations in the region, said Kurdish Worker's Party (PKK) member Medin Shadi in a press conference yesterday. She said that Turkey has now become a political corpse, which nobody needs - not even the US. Shadi is head of the women's issues section of the PKK.

In regard to the Rosbalt question of whether or not the PKK is afraid of colliding with the US army, which considers the party a terrorist organization, Shadi said that they were not afraid. 'We are coordinating tactically our activity with the Americans. Though it is not strategic partnership, we are nevertheless confident that the US will not act against the PKK,' she said.

She also refuted information in the Turkish press that recently there was a battle between PKK troops and US soldiers. 'The Turks write what they want, but it is not true,' she said. Shadi confirmed that Ankara is not moving toward a meeting with the Kurds on the issue of the PKK declaring war on Turkey beginning December 1. 'Our soldiers, who were dislocated primarily in Iraq, are moving forward,' said Shadi.
