Memorandum on cooperation between Russia's Federation Council and US Senate signed

The Memorandum on Cooperation between the Federation Council of the Russian Federation (Upper House of Parliament) and the Senate of the USA has been signed in the Library of the US Congress in Washington.

From the Russian side the Memorandum was signed by Speaker of the Russian Federation Council Sergei Mironov, from the American side - by the head of the Senate majority, Bill Frist.

Speaking after the signing ceremony, Sergei Mironov expressed satisfaction that the visit by the delegation of the Russian Upper House to the United States "has ended so significantly." According to him, the signing of the Memorandum means "to enter a new level" of relations. "I do not doubt that our cooperation has a wonderful future," pointed out Mironov.

In his turn, Bill Frist underscored that by signing the Memorandum on Cooperation, we are formalizing the relations between the two bodies of power.

He also expressed the hope that the signing of the Memorandum would help strengthen relations between the Upper Houses of the two countries. According to him, from now on the American senators and the members of the Federation Council will meet regularly.

The arising differences are better to settle in the atmosphere of an open discussion between friends, noted Bill Frist.
