Russia needs experience, knowledge of Russians living abroad, says Sergei Mironov

Russia needs the experience and knowledge of Russians living abroad, chairman of the Federation Council Sergei Mironov stated at the New York meeting of the organizations of compatriots working in the USA.

"Russia is recovering now, recovering fast. It is desirable that it become stronger with your assistance," the speaker of the Russian parliament's upper chamber said.

The questions of liberalization of the visa regime for entry of Russian citizens into the USA, removal of the administrative barriers to the compatriots' humanitarian organizations, and the problems of improvement of our country's image in U.S. mass media were discussed at the meeting.

Ideas of setting up a House of Russia in the USA as a cultural center of compatriots, and of allocating scholarships for training of descendants of Russian emigrants in Russian universities were advanced in the course of the discussion.

Sculptor Ernst Neizvestny, writer Eduard Topol, Professors Vladimir Kvint and Nina Khrushcheva, and other prominent representatives of the Russian-speaking community in the US participated in the meeting.
