Canadian CAE to provide Aeroflot with flight simulator

CAE (Canada) is one of the largest producers of flight simulators and has agreed to supply a A320 simulator to Aeroflot-Russian Airlines. As Rosbalt was informed by the company's press office yesterday, the contract is valid for an eight-year period. The value of the contract has not been disclosed.

The simulator is equipped with a Tropos visual system designed by CAE and it will be installed at the training centre for Aeroflot personnel by the end of 2003. The main users of the simulator will be Aeroflot pilots training to fly A319 and A320 model planes.

Aeroflot-Russian Airlines was registered in 1994. The main shareholders are the Russian government, the Russian National Reserve Bank and the company management and personnel. The airline is a member of the International Civil Aviation Organization and the International Air Transport Association. Aeroflot provides regular flights to 103 different airports in 54 countries. In 2002 it transported 5.5 million passengers. Net profit in 2002 came to over USD 100 million.
