Yukos and RAO EES Rossii became finalists of annual competition for world's best company in energy sphere

On Monday Russian companies Yukos and RAO EES Rossii were declared in the USA to be the finalists of the annual competition for the world's best company in the sphere of energy.

As the press service of the organising committee of the prize awarded by Businessweek magazine and Platts energy information service reported, the final decision on the results of the competition will be taken by the international jury in London. It includes the heads of the world's biggest energy corporations and experts-economists.

The winners will be announced on December 12 at a formal event in New York where the Global Energy Award will be presented to them.

According to the organising committee's information, RAO EES Rossii was included in the list of finalists in two nominations at once - "Power Company of the Year" and "Energy Company of the Year".

Head of RAO EES Rossii Anatoly Chubais also became a finalist in the nomination "CEO of the Year" in which he will vie with eight other well-known heads of world business, including chairman of the New York Mercantile Exchange Inc. Vincent Viola and head of American Superconductor Corporation Greg Yurek.

Alongside Yukos, two more companies - ExxonMobil of the USA and Indian Hindustan Petroleum - made the final in the nomination "Oil Company of the Year".
