Kerch strait dam not to be discussed during Robertson's visit to Moscow

There is the belief that the construction by Russia of a dam in the Kerch strait is not to be discussed at the forthcoming talks with NATO Secretary-General George Robertson who is to visit Moscow over October 29-30.

"There is no link between Robertson's visit and negotiations that are underway between Moscow and Kiev, " Deputy Foreign Minister Vladimir Chizhov said at a press-conference in the RIA Novosti.

When in Kiev several days ago, George Robertson did not exclude the possibility of touching upon the Tuzla strip issue at Moscow talks.

The NATO secretary-general plans to meet with Russian defence and foreign ministry officials, State Duma deputies and to do a military unit near Moscow, reported Vladimir Chizhov.

"Robertson, paying a farewell visit to Russia shortly before his resignation from the NATO secretary-general post, regards it as one of the main priorities of the finale of his activity," said Chizhov.

"We think highly of Lord Robertson's personal contribution to the establishment of new type of relationships between Russia and NATO," said Chizhov.
