Russian, Lithuanian Education Ministers sign agreement on cooperation

Russian and Lithuanian Education Ministers Vladimir Filippov and Algirdas Monkyavichus signed an agreement on cooperation for five years.

In accordance with the agreement, diplomas, academic degrees and other education documents will be declared valid in both countries. The agreement also implies information exchange in the sphere of education and science.

Today all Lithuanian big cities have Russian schools and gymnasiums and publish text-books for Russian-speaking pupils. Some of them are supplied from Russia. A 100-volume edition of Russian literature and books of world classics will be delivered to Lithuania soon, Vladimir Filippov told journalists.

In addition, the Russian Education Minister promised to render support to Lithuanian schools in Moscow and the Kaliningrad region (Russia's exclave on the Baltic Sea).
