Russia, Thailand agree on Russian debt

The talks between Russian leader Vladimir Putin and Thai Premier Thaksin Chinnawat have yielded a number of documents.

Russian Deputy Finance Minister Sergei Kolotukhin and Thai Foreign Minister Surakiat Sathianthai signed an intergovernmental agreement on settling Russia's debt to the Kingdom of Thailand. According to the document, Russia's debt to Thailand amounts to $36.5 mln and is to be settled within five years. The agreement lays down the mechanism for settling Russia's debt in goods and services.

Russian Deputy Defense Minister Mikhail Dmitriyev and Thai Defense Minister Thammarak Isarangkun na Ayutthaya signed the memorandum on mutual understanding between the two countries' governments in logistic and technical provision of forces. This framework document is related to the possible military and military-technological cooperation.

Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov and his Thai colleague signed the protocol on cooperation between the Russian and Thai culture ministries for 2004-2006. This document envisages major events for this period, in particular, Days of Russian Culture in Thailand and Days of Thai Culture in Russia.

Vice President of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs Viktor Dombrovsky and Chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries Praphad Phodhivorakhun signed an agreement on cooperation between their organizations.
