Fords sales treble in nine months in Russia

Ford Motor Company sold 12841 cars in Russia over the first nine months of 2003 through its official dealers, whereas only 4027 cars were sold over the same period last year. As a Rosbalt correspondent was informed by the Russian Ford office, 9412 Focus models, 1985 Mondeo models and 545 Mavericks were officially sold over the nine-month period.

Ford Motor Company is planning to sell up to 20,000 cars this year in Russia, which would be about three times more than last year. The company has started selling cars on credit and company spokesmen say this will lead to an increase in sales.

There are currently 72 companies in Russia authorised to sell Ford cars. Total sales came to 6669 cars in 2002, a year-on-year increase of 61.7%.
