Germany may help Russia to utilize nuclear submarines

Russia will negotiate with Germany the signing of an agreement on rendering assistance to liquidate the Russian nuclear weapons, which are now being reduced, by way of utilization of nuclear submarines withdrawn from the navy.

RIA Novosti was told at the department of government information that the corresponding instruction was signed by prime minister Mikhail Kasyanov.

Thus, the government has accepted the proposal of the atomic energy ministry coordinated with the foreign and defence ministries, and other federal bodies of executive authority concerned.

The agreement is planned to be signed between the Russian atomic energy ministry and the federal economic and labour ministry of Germany within the framework of the realisation of understandings on the global partnership against the proliferation of mass destruction weapons and materials, the government information department pointed out.
