Vice-president of Iran to go to Russia

Vice-president of Iran and head of the Iranian Organisation for Physical Training Mohsen Mehr-Alizadeh is to leave for Russia on Tuesday, October 7, to hold talks with Russian officials and to sign a joint document on cooperation in physical culture and sport.

As cultural attache of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Teheran Denis Sobolev told RIA Novosti, Mehr-Alizadeh is leaving for Moscow at the invitation of head of the State Committee on Sport of Russia Vyacheslav Fetisov.

The main purpose of the visit of the top sport official of the Islamic Republic is to sign a Memorandum between the State Committee of the Russian Federation on Physical Culture, Sport and Tourism and the Organisation for Physical Training and Sport of Iran on Cooperation in the Field of Physical Culture and Sport.

In the Russian diplomat's opinion, "this document will make it possible to build a fully valid legislative base for development and strengthening of Russian-Iranian cooperation in the social sphere".

The programme of the visit includes also meetings of the vice-president of Iran with high-ranking officials of Russia, an exchange of opinions on sport problems, and visits to the Russian sport facilities which are the best known in the world, Sobolev added.
