IAEA inspectors arrive in Iran

On Thursday, experts from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will arrive in Iran to conduct inspections and hold talks with Iranian officials.

Spokesman for the Iranian Atomic Energy Organisation Saber Zaenian announced that "the IAEA delegation will continue negotiations aimed at clarifying all controversial issues of the technical and legal aspects of the Iranian nuclear programme." The IAEA delegation which consists of two high-ranking IAEA officials is expected to focus on the technological level of Iranian nuclear projects and the problem of enriched uranium (its traces were discovered earlier at an Iranian nuclear facility).

On the eve of the IAEA inspections, Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi announced that Iran was willing to fully cooperate with the IAEA, but at the same time, demanded that the world community recognise Iran's right to pursue research in the civilian nuclear technologies, including the continuation of work on uranium enrichment because it is widely used in energy industry.
