Pakistan wants to make Russian automobiles and tractors

The government of Pakistan is going to arrange the production and assembly of Russian automobiles, tractors and bulldozers, Pakistani Minister for Industries and Production Liaqat Ali Jatoi said to reporters in Moscow on Thursday.

Automobiles are in great demand in Pakistan and the authorities want to arrange production at prices acceptable to the middle class, he said. This is planned to be done "one the basis of natural competition between Japanese, South Korean and Russian automobiles", he continued.

He is sure of the competitiveness of Russian automobiles in his country and specified that Lada cars with at least 1.3-litre engines are at issue.

According to Jatoi, the same with the production of farm machines. "Pakistan is an agricultural country. "We are going to make the purchase of tractors and bulldozers acceptable to our farmers and peasants by arranging assembly of such machines, including Russian-made, in our country", said the Pakistani minister.
