Russia wants to build 2nd reactor at China's Tianwan nuclear power plant

Russia is considering the question of allocating a credit to China to construct the second reactor for the Tianwan nuclear power plant, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov, who is on a working visit to China, told journalists today. According to him, Russia will fulfill its provisions on constructing the first reactor, which is to be put into operation at the end of December 2004. The head of the Russian government noted that Russia planned to take part in a tender for constructing the second reactor at the Tianwan nuclear facility. "We are ready to finance a considerable part of the activities, mainly by providing equipment and services," Kasyanov said.

The second reactor of this nuclear power plant is planned to be put into operation in December 2005.
