Russian 'Ural' trucks excellently performed at tests in Chile, Alexei Kovalev representing the Russian Urals truck factory told RIA Novosti Monday.
According to Kovalev, the three Ural trucks faced a very difficult mission of going 3,000 km across Atacama, the world's driest desert, salt lakes and the Cordillera's highland roads (up to 5,100 meters above the sea level) at maximum speed and load. Two trucks produced by URO, the main supplier of automobiles for the Spanish army, took part in the tests too.
The Russian crew overcame all the obstacles and arrived at the finish at the appointed time.
The preponderance of Russian trucks and their crew was overwhelming. General Jorge Matus representing the Chilean army, demonstrated the art of military driver in the Ural cabin.
Kovalev said the Chilean military would consider the purchase of Russian trucks.
