UN says refugees in Chechnya and Ingushetia are not receiving necessary compensation

The Russian government is concealing information about the true living conditions of refugees in Chechnya and Ingushetia. As a Rosbalt correspondent reports, this was announced yesterday by Francis Mading Deng, special representative of the UN secretary general on internally displaced persons. He said that those refugees who have already returned home are not receiving any compensation for repairing or constructing their homes and some people have been refused financial assistance despite previous promises of compensation. 'Although the security problems in Chechnya are being resolved, the population is still afraid and further steps must be taken. I intend to monitor further progress,' said Mr Mading Deng.
