MAZ planning truck exports to Iraq

The Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ) is planning to export about 1,500 trucks to Iraq in 2004, Valentin Gurinovich, the General Director of this Belarusian truck producer, told RBC. According to him, contracts with Iraq have been approved by the United Nations, however "the market of this country is closed for the plant so far". In 2002 MAZ supplied 1,000 trucks to Iraq. According to estimations of the Belarusian enterprise, there are about 3,000 MAZ automobiles in Iraq.
