International developer IKEA to invest USD 45 million in Ufa trade complex

International corporation IKEA intends to build a large trade and entertainment complex in Ufa at a value of more than USD 45 million. The Ministry of Foreign Economic Ties and Trade press service told Rosbalt that the new complex will be located on a 30 hectare stretch of land next to the Tsvety Bashkirii state farm in the Kirov region of Ufi.

At the present time IKEA employees are developing plans for the future complex. During the construction of the complex, IKEA will rely on similar complexes in St. Petersburg and Kazan. Building plans are to be completed by the beginning of 2004. It is planned that the complex will include a furniture supermarket, grocery superstore, and entertainment complex with cinema and cafй. The new project will bring 500 new jobs to Ufa.

IKEA owns 160 trade complexes in 22 countries. More than 186 million people visited IKEA stores in 2002. 15% of trade goods in IKEA stores in Russia are domestically produced.
