Aquatics World Championship as benefit night for Aleksander Popov

Last Sunday an Aquatics World Championship was closed in Barcelona, Spain. The Russian national team won 21 medals, occupying the 2nd place by team rankings /the US team is the 1st/.

The Russians topped the podium 10 times, two times fewer than Stars and Stripes was played to celebrate 12 gold medals.

It is worthy of note that before swimming competitions began the Russian team had been the 1st by the number of medals won, the Americans failing to make to the top three.

32-year old swimmer Alexander Popov winning 3 gold medals for Russia in a 4X100 metres freestyle relay and 100 metres and 50 metres freestyle heats was an absolute sensation in Barcelona.
