President of Russia begins his state visit to Great Britain

On Tuesday president of Russia Vladimir Putin is beginning a state visit to Great Britain.

The programme of the visit which is to be held from June 24 through 27 is satiated with cultural and political events, deputy head of the president's administration Sergei Prikhodko said.

He recalled that Vladimir Putin's state visit to the United Kingdom will become the first visit of such a level from the time of Emperor Nicholas I who visited Great Britain on the invitation of Queen Victoria in 1844.

The head of the Russian state and his wife will arrive at London airport Heathrow in the afternoon on Tuesday. Prince Charles of Wales will welcome the president of Russia and his wife at the airport.
