Washington intends to resolve its problems with Iran by diplomatic means according to US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Ross Wilson. As Azerbaijani newspaper Zerkalo reports, he said the US would consult all its allies including Azerbaijan before making any decisions about Iran. However, he stressed that the US does not plan to deploy any troops in Azerbaijan.
Commenting on the student riots in Iran, Mr Wilson said the US is calling on the Iranian government to respect human rights and release the arrested students. Talking about the anti-government uprisings in Iran in general, the ambassador said 'they reflect a desire for freedom and democracy.'
