On Tuesday Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov arrives in the Cambodian capital, Pnompenh, to take part in the events of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, ASEAN.
On Tuesday evening the minister will attend an informal working dinner of foreign ministers from the member states of the ASEAN Regional Forum on Security, ARF. The ARF comprises 22 countries of the region, including ASEAN member states, China, the USA, India, Japan, the Republic of Korea, North Korea, as well as the EU.
"This composition makes the ARF a unique mechanism to discuss acute problems and to work out coordinated response to threats and challenges," the Russian Foreign Ministry's official spokesman Alexander Yakovenko pointed out in an interview with RIA Novosti.
On June 18th Phnom Penh will host the ARF 10th session. June 19th will see the post-ministerial consultations "ASEAN plus the dialog partners". The Russian delegation takes part in the meetings in the ASEAN plus 10 format, as well as in the ASEAN plus Russia format.
Igor Ivanov will also hold a number of bilateral meetings with his counterparts in Cambodia.
