Tajikistan ratifies agreement with Russia on restructuring debt

The deputies of the lower house of Tajikistan's parliament ratified an agreement on restructuring the republic's debt on state credits given by Russia. The agreement between the governments of the two countries was signed last December. The point at issue is Russian credits to Tajikistan to the tune of 298.7 million US dollars.

In compliance with this agreement Tajikistan is to transfer to Russia 18 million dollars annually. The repayment of the debt will be conducted in 2005-2018, the easy term will be three years. The sum of payments by the end of restructuring period will amount to 397 million dollars.
